Indiana School Is Making Sure Kids Don’t Go Hungry On The Weekends
Elkhart Elementary school, located in Northern Indiana, has partnered with a nonprofit organization, to cut back on waste, and feed more kids at the same time.
A lot of food goes to waste everyday at restaurants, catering companies and schools. Food that has been prepared, but not served. Instead of all of these meals going to waste, Cultivate Culinary School has found a way to make sure this food is put to good use. This video explains the process:
Elkhart, Indiana Community Schools are participating in a pilot program, that utilizes the service of Cultivate Culinary School, to make sure students get meals on the weekends, not just through the school week. Currently, 20 students are sent home with 8 meals in a backpack, every Friday. Hopefully, this is something that will catch on, so that no student ever goes without a meal.
