Teen Loses Gallbladder Due to Consumption of Spicy Snacks
Wow, this is something I've never heard about. I'm not a fan of really spicy food. I'm older but apparently spicy food does not discriminate due to age.
A Tennessee teenager had to have surgery to remove her gallbladder recently and the doctor said her love of spicy snacks such as Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Fuego Takis, more than likely led to her hospital visit.
Rene Craighead had been experiencing abdominal pain and other stomach issues. Her mother said the 17-year-old had been eating at four regular size bags of spicy/hot chips per week. The gastroenterologist who treated Craighead said he's seen 100 kids a month with similar snack habits. Dr. Cary Cavender said gastritis and ulcer-related illnesses can also be attributed to the hot snacks.
What about you? Do your kids love similar spicy snacks?
