Stranger’s Generous Gift Gives Hope To The Posey County Community After Family’s Tragedy

Mr. Rogers had a specific gift for giving us iconic quotes that remind us to be kind and share what we have with others.

"All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors—in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver."

I'm not sure if Timothy Land had any Mr. Rogers-inspired quotes in mind when he made the decision to give the money he had been saving to a family that he had never met.

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, the Mt. Vernon community suffered a huge loss. 11-year-old Camrynn McMichael was killed in a tragic firework accident. I cannot even imagine the pain that his parents are feeling.  Camrynn was well known in Posey County for his love of sports and people.

There is no way to prepare emotionally or financially to bury a family member. Chances are, they are just numb, and now they are faced with so many decisions, and none of those are in any way affordable. Trust me, I know.

Timothy Land lives in Evansville and heard about Camrynn's story on the news. He had been saving up money to rebuild a car. Instead, he gifted his $1,300 of savings to Camrynn's family. I don't know a lot of people (Myself included) that would just hand over the money that was being saved for a special project.
