The Tri-State’s Favorite Costume: Here Are the Most Popular Halloween Costumes in the Evansville Area
Halloween is quickly approaching, and it's time to get those costumes in order!
A Timeless Halloween Tradition
One of my favorite Halloween traditions is dressing up in costume. Halloween is the one day a year when you can literally be whoever (and whatever) you want to be. When I was a kid I remember begging my mom to take me to the costume stores so I could pick out the perfect costume. Some years we made our own costumes, like the year I went as a Cubs player, or the year I went as a rock star. In other years we'd buy our costumes, I remember when I was 4 I begged my mom to be Baby Bop (I was a child of the 90s after all). Now that I have a kid of my own, I'm so excited about Halloween and getting to dress up in costumes with him.
Most Popular Halloween Costumes in the Tri-State
If you plan on opening up your door to trick-or-treaters this year or heading out to some Halloween events, there is a good chance you'll see a few repeat costumes, and that's okay, there's nothing wrong with that!
Google released the most popular Halloween costumes in each region, and in the Evansville-area there are 5 that were listed as the most popular, so let's count them down together, shall we?
The pirate costume comes in as the 5th most popular in the Tri-State. It's easy to see why though, these costumes are cute, easy to put together, and often times you can make it your own. Avast!
Coming in at #4 we have the dinosaur costume, and I can honestly say there are few things cuter than tiny dinos.
Coming in 3rd most popular is the pumpkin costume. My mom always said that "every kid should be a pumpkin once in their life" because she always thought pumpkins were the cutest costumes. One time she made me be a pumpkin TWO years in a row. Rude mom.
Coming in 2nd place is the clown costume. Another classic, but one that can be cute and fun for kids, or actually terrifying for adults depending on how you want to dress this one up.
Coming in first place for the most popular costume in the Tri-State is the one and only Spiderman! This one makes sense because it seems like right now Spiderman is really having his day with the kiddos. My nephew is 4 and he is obsessed with Spiderman.
Halloween 2022
So if you want to stand out from the crowd you may want to avoid these costumes. However, if you're looking for super fun (and potentially dangerous) Halloween drinking game, you could always take a shot each time you see one of these 5 costumes show up on your doorstep.
And let's be honest, whether you want to be Spiderman, a pirate, or any other costume on this list, that is totally okay. Halloween is when you can wear whatever you want, and be whatever you want. And if you're looking for a great place to grab a costume, I definitely recommend checking out my friends at the Nick Nackery, they are locally owned, and have a massive selection of Halloween costumes waiting for you!
