Vanderburgh Sheriff Warn of Phone Scammers Posing as Vectren Employees
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of a new phone scam involving individuals posing as Vectren employees threatening to shut off the victim's power unless they pay a fee immediately.
The VSCO announced the scam on Wednesday through their Twitter account.
According to the Vectren website, the company never "asks customers with a delinquent account to make immediate payment with a prepaid debit card in order to avoid service disconnection," and encourages customers to call them at at 1-800-227-1376 if they believe they are being scammed.
