Sheila Huff, principal at Bosse High School, was recognized as recipient of the 2014 ATHENA Award at a luncheon today hosted by the Southwest Indiana Chamber, in partnership with A Network of Evansville Women (ANEW).

Huff, who has worked for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for more than 37 years, gives back to the Southwest Indiana community by serving on the YWCA board of directors, the Hillcrest Washington Youth Home board of directors, and the Indiana AdvancED board of directors.
In 2013, Huff was named recipient of the Indiana Excellence in Education Award from AdvancED. Each year the Excellence in Education Award is presented to one individual from each state who has demonstrated unparalleled leadership in promoting and advancing excellence in education. Huff also received the 2013 Sara B. Davies Award, the University of Southern Indiana’s 2012 Phenomenal Women Award, and has been named recipient of the Outstanding Educator of the Year award sponsored by the Courier & Press and the University of Evansville, and the Black Women’s Task Force Educator of the Year award.
Since the Southwest Indiana Chamber began presenting this humbling award in the Nineties, hundreds of local women have been nominated, hundreds of local women have been celebrated as award finalists, and 22 leaders have been recognized as ATHENA Award recipients.
Huff was among 10 finalists celebrated by the Southwest Indiana Chamber at the 23rd annual ATHENA Awards Luncheon, sponsored by Deaconess Health System, The Women’s Hospital, Springleaf Financial Services, and Evansville Business Journal.
