In my opinion, it is impossible to over-recognize the amazing teachers in our communities. Our teachers need all the love we can give them, so whenever there is a chance to shine a spotlight on a special teacher, I'm gonna take it. This teacher isn't just special - he is outstanding.

Locally-owned McDonald's restaurants are once again celebrating teachers in our area with the 3rd annual McDonald's Outstanding Educator Awards. This award program was started three years ago as a way to celebrate area educators for exhibiting the ultimate dedication to their students and going the extra mile to contribute to the improvement of education. Back in August, we asked you to nominate outstanding teachers in grades K-12. We were looking for someone who exhibits the ultimate dedication to their students - someone who goes the extra mile to contribute to the improvement of education.

It should come as no surprise that there were a LOT of outstanding teachers nominated here in the Tri-State area - more than 650 nominations, in fact. Out of all those names, there could be only one winner, and we learned who that is earlier this week.

As this year's Outstanding Educator, Mr. Bobbit was awarded with a $1,000 Visa Gift Card along with a “Best Teacher Ever” coffee mug (the REAL prize). He also received an official Outstanding Educator certificate and McDonald’s coupons to pay it forward. Congratulations to Mr. Bobbit and North High School - and congrats (and thanks) to all of the teachers nominated this year. Keep up the outstanding work!

Since launching this award program in 2020, locally-owned McDonald’s restaurants have given more than $25,000 in cash and prizes to 130 educators across local communities.

Relive 1980s Elementary School Gym Class

If you are a Generation X or Millenial like me, you likely have some strong memories of gym class. Either you loved it or hated it. I made some fun memories and built character and muscle, but I'm really glad I never have to go back and face some of these things again! And I know my teachers did their best to make gym enjoyable and teach us life skills. They succeeded - this is all in good fun. And, hopefully, future generations will get to thoroughly enjoy some of these as much as I did!
