Another new business is coming to downtown Evansville!  The Post House will serve as an apartment building with ground-level restaurants and offices.  

This Monday, a groundbreaking ceremony took place on the lot opposite of the Old Post Office on Second Street; the BRU Burger Bar located on the other side on the same lot.

The Post House will have 144 living units with underground parking for tenants and is expected to cost around $40 million for the development.

According to our friends at the Courier and Press:

Vectren, a partner in the project along with Scannell of Indianapolis, CRG Residential of Carmel and property manager Barrett & Stokely of Indianapolis, will pilot energy efficiency technologies at the Post House.

Between the complex’s two buildings is a spacious grassy area with a large overhead video screen lending itself to movie nights and other communitywide activities.

Rooftop solar panels will power a third of the Post House’s 144 apartments, and the complex will have battery storage on site. Electric car chargers are planned for the underground parking garage.

Other amenities of The Post House include a research center in the complex, an outdoor rooftop pool with restaurants and other businesses available on the ground level.

The entire project is expected to be completed in early 2020.

The spate of major new projects continues to transform the look and feel of Downtown Evansville, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said. “It is evolving and changing and will never be the same."

CEO of the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, Greg Wathen said apartments will be rented at market rate.
