The death of an Indiana man who was discovered earlier today at his home near Muncie has lead officials to try to figure out what to do with his, count them, 44 cats.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, after confirming that the resident of the home was in fact deceased, authorities employed the help of the Delaware County Heath Department and Muncie Animal Control to assist in determining if the house was an immediate health risk, as well as to ensure that the deceased’s 44 cats were properly taken care of.

Witnesses say officials could be seen wearing masks, gloves and booties while loading over four dozen cats into several animal control trucks. The 44 cats have since been transported to the Muncie Animal Shelter.
