Boonville Bypass Opening Delayed Until 2018
Residents of Boonville have been curious as to when the By-Pass Project will be completed. We have new news regarding that.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Boonville By-Pass project has been delayed until 2018. They just issued a press stating that the project has been suspended until further notice. Here are the details:
The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that work on a section of the State Road 61 Boonville Bypass has been suspended until further notice. The work suspension will delay the opening of the bypass until 2018.
On Nov. 2, 2017, INDOT’s Construction team sent a letter to Force Construction officially suspending pavement work on the bypass due to pavement smoothness concerns. During the course of the project, a section of finished pavement experienced unexpected heaving, or upward movement of the pavement material. The cause of the heaving is being studied at this time.
Due to the unexpected issues, INDOT has agreed to grant Force Construction an extension of the contract time pursuant to INDOT standard specifications associated with this contract. Workers will still be able to complete work in other areas of the Boonville Bypass during the suspension.
The Boonville By-Pass Project will include a three roundabouts. One currently at Eskew Road and Millersburgh Road, New Harmony Road and Eskew, and State Route 61 and New Harmony. According to INDOT, roundabouts reduce potential accident points within an intersection and improves traffic flow.
Residents and commuters will have to wait a little while longer for the By Pass Project to be completed. We will update you with information as we get it.
