Venus, Mars and Saturn To Be Visible With The Naked Eye Late-March 2022
Of all the planets in the solar system, there are five that can be seen, under the right circumstances, by the naked eye and later this month, three of them will be visible at the same time.
See Three Planets Simultaneously With Just Your Naked Eyes
If you are like me and you get excited about things like sunsets, stars in the night sky, or full moons, you might also be excited to learn that you will be able to see three different planets in the night sky in late March and into early April.
Not only will you be able to look up to see the moon and stars but three different planets will be available to see without the need for a telescope or other lensed gear. All you are going to need to see these planets will be the lenses you were born with - your naked eye.
Which Three Planets Can We See In March
When Will They Be Visible
Saturn, Venus, and Mars will all be visible to the naked eye around the end of March and the first part of April. According to National Geographic, March 24th through April 3rd will be the best chance to see the three planets illuminate the night sky.
Where Will They Be Visible
National Geographic says to see the three planets, you will need to wake up early. Saturn, Venus & Mars will be most visible in the early morning hours about an hour before sunrise. You will want to look to the lower portion of the sky off to the southeast to find them.
Sky-watchers who keep an eye on the planets from morning to morning will notice their positions shift. The planets will form a triangle that will change its angles until after April 1, when the trio will appear in a straight line. In early April you can also see Saturn approach Mars until both appear right next to each other between April 3 and 5.
Can We See Other Planets?
If you miss seeing this trio of planets in the night sky, you will get another opportunity to planet gaze in June when five, and even potentially six planets align and become visible to the human eye.
National Geographic says Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will move into alignment become visible between June 19th through 27th. If conditions are right and the sky is perfectly clear they say you may be able to look up and see Uranus. They say if visible, Uranus will look like a "distinctly green-colored dot."
