Vanderburgh Sheriff’s Office Conducting Sobriety Checkpoint Labor Day Weekend
Even though Summer doesn't officially end until the first day of Fall later in September, the three day Labor Day weekend has always marked the end of the season. One last hurrah before preparing for cooler temps, if you will. If your plans include kicking back a few alcoholic drinks, be sure you have a plan to get home safely, because if you don't, local law enforcement will be more than happy take you to a place where you can sleep it off.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday, they'll be joining Evansville Police, Indiana State Police, and Indiana Excise Police in conducting a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the county "over Labor Day Weekend." The exact night and location of the checkpoint was not revealed which is standard for these kind of announcements since it would hard to catch impaired drivers if they know what area of the county to avoid.
With both Uber and Lyft available in Evansville, along with a number of taxi company's, there's no reason to take a chance getting behind the wheel. Have fun, but plan ahead so not only you can get home safely, but everyone else on the road can as well.
