Trader Joe’s Moving Into South Central KY But It’s Not What You Might Think
Have you ever visited Trader Joe's? They have them in Louisville, Lexington, and Nashville. I've been to the one in Nashville. Of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods--the two chains I assume are direct rivals due to their offerings--I much prefer Trader Joe's.
AMERICA'S FASCINATION WITH TRADER JOE'S
And that's because of the great selection of merchandise I don't see anywhere else. So it piqued my interest when I saw a partial headline about Trader Joe's coming to Franklin KY. Upon close examination, it wasn't what I thought.
But, I do take it as a good sign.
I always look for healthy versions of the foods I love, and they have certain ones there. But again, because of the pricing, it's a "treat." And hopefully, Kentucky will be "treated" to more locations of Trader Joe's in the future now that Franklin has been chosen as a distribution center. That can only bode well.
COULD A TRADER JOE'S DISTRIBUTION CENTER MEAN MORE STORES?
But while folks might do like I did and assume another RETAIL store was headed to Kentucky, there's no need for disappointment since it should be noted that a Trader Joe's distribution center means additional new jobs.
So, why the new distribution center in Franklin KY? For one thing, Simpson County is one of Kentucky's fastest growing counties. State tax incentives and infrastructure investments also made this particular move very attractive.
WHY A TRADER JOE'S DISTRIBUTION CENTER IS MOVING INTO KENTUCKY
Here's how it has unfolded over the last several months, according to the Bowling Green Daily News:
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority last September approved Trader Joe’s for $500,000 in tax incentives, based on the company meeting employment goals over a 10-year period.
TRADER JOE'S SEEMS TO GENERATE TONS OF EXCITEMENT
Trader Joe's clearly generates a lot of excitement based on the number of videos I've seen of people raving about THIS new item or THAT new item. This is just one of MYRIAD examples:
But it's not just these nearly daily video updates. There are Facebook pages dedicated to the hope that Trader Joe's will arrive in, well, Evansville for example:
And much closer to the action, there's this Facebook page, as well, which is SIX years old:
Supermarkets generate excitement. And I can only imagine how the anticipation will grow when that distribution center in Franklin opens.
