Many recalls are done as a preemptive measure. The manufacturer discovers something wrong with a product and recalls it before anyone gets hurt or sick. That doesn't seem to be the case with this one though. A total of 93 people in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin have come forward claiming to have salmonella after eating this produce. These claims are still under investigation.

According to the FDA, the recall affects fresh cut watermelon, fresh cut honeydew melon, fresh cut cantaloupe and fresh cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons. You can get all of the details and a list of the recalled products HERE. Customers are advised to throw away any of these products.
