If you have never eaten at Pangea just off of South Green River Road and the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville, you've been missing out but we have some good news! They just opened Pangea Pizzeria in downtown Evansville!

More Than a Biscuit Building

Located in the building that once housed the National Biscuit Company location at 401 NW 2nd Street. For those not in the know, The National Biscuit Company, based out of New York and having 114 bakeries across the United States, according to Duke University's Library archives, would go on to become as we know it now, Nabisco. (Nabisco is now owned by Mondelēz International, one of the largest snack companies on Earth.)

The National Biscuit Company was founded in 1898, the product of a merger among the American Biscuit and Manufacturing Company, the New York Biscuit Company, and the United States Baking Company. The new conglomerate was headquartered in New York City with 114 bakeries across the United States. Over the next several decades the company grew by acquiring companies such as the F.H. Bennett Company, maker of Milk-Bone Pet Products, and the Shredded Wheat Company, maker of Triscuit Wafers and Shredded Wheat Cereal. The name "Nabisco" was first used as the name for a cracker introduced in 1901, but the corporate name did not change to Nabisco until 1971.

It's All About The Dough

While the building no longer houses a biscuit bakery, it is still all about the dough as it is now home to Pangea Pizzeria.

Double Duty

Pangea Pizzeria shares the building with 2nd Language, a restaurant serving Southeast Asian Cuisine and owned by the same people responsible for the original Pangea on the east side of the city. In addition to the two restaurants, the building on NW 2nd Street is also home to the loft apartments owned by Architectural Renovators.

But Back to the Pizza

Pangea Pizzeria will officially hold its grand opening on July 19, 2022.  In addition to artisan pizzas, you will be able to find house-made gelato and cookies too, according to a post from Evansville 411. Learn more at 2nd Language on Facebook.
