Indiana Crews Pull Driver to Safety After Car Partially Submerges in Icy Waters
I haven't spoken to a soul during the last few days who isn't fed up with seeing snow on the ground every time they look out the window. You can count me among them.
Icy Rescue in Southern Indiana
Thankfully, as I write this, my phone says it's 47 degrees, and the sun is shining. I'll take all of that Mother Nature has to give, and then some. I'm sure the driver of a vehicle that drove into an icy lake over the weekend in Warrick County, Indiana, feels the same way. They probably feel a lot of ways after being pulled safely from the partially submerged vehicle.
Late Saturday night, shortly after 11:30 PM, the motorist entered the small body of water and was later assessed by medical crews after the rescue. The Ohio Township Fire Department was on the scene and had removed the driver just before midnight.
Thanks to Tri-State Towing and Recovery, Warrick County Sheriff's Office Dispatch, the Warrick County Sheriff's Office, and Ascension St. Vincent Warrick EMS (who examined the driver), Ohio Township FD was able to complete the rescue and clear the scene shortly after 1 AM Sunday.
The pond, or small lake, where the vehicle submerged is located at Oak Grove Road and White Chapel Drive in Newburgh, Indiana.
Warmer Temperatures Ahead
Eyewitness News/WEHT-WTVW tells us that icy ponds don't figure to be in our immediate future, at least for the coming week. In fact, the forecast for Tuesday, February 10th, is showing a possible high of 60 degrees. I think we can all consider this a reward for putting up with snow on the ground for the last two weeks.
