Internet technology and hunting have finally caught up with each other in Indiana, with deer and turkey trackers now being provided the resources to report their game kills online rather than going through the typical check station process.

The online system is called CheckIN Game, and according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), it provides hunters with the convenience of reporting their game from home or on location using a computer or a smartphone with an Internet connection.

The DNR reports that more than 2,100 hunters used the online service earlier this year during spring turkey season, and they predict that even more will follow suit once archery season starts at the beginning of October.

For those hunters that are not comfortable with reporting game online, the state will still provide over 450 traditional check stations.
