Monday morning's water main break in Daviess County has left residents under a boil advisory until further notice sending many to local grocery and convenient stores to stock up on bottled water until the advisory is lifted. Unfortunately, there are some who may be taking advantage of resident's needs by spiking up the price, otherwise known as price gouging, which is illegal.

Daviess County officials with knowledge of the situation tell the Evansville Courier & Press residents could be without water for "an 'extended' period of time," which has led to the clearing of store shelves.

If you believe you've been a victim of price gouging, both the Daviess County Sheriff's Office and Daviess County Emergency Management encourages you to contact the Kentucky Attorney General's Office at 1-888-432-9257, submit a complaint through their website.
