Harbor Freight Tools is recalling over 1.1 million Gordon Folding Knives due to a mechanical malfunction that has resulted in a number of people accidentally cutting themselves.

The issue stems from the locking mechanism. According to the recall from Harbor Freight, the mechanism "can fail to engage on extension of the blade posing a laceration hazard." In layman's terms, when you fully open the knife, it may not stay open and you could inadvertently cut yourself.

As of the publication of the recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, six people have reported being cut by their blades, four of those have required medical attention for their injury.

The blades affected by the recall were sold at Harbor Freight stores nationwide over an 11 year span between July 2008 and July of this year (2019) for $5.00 each with a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number of 97668. If you have one of these knives, Harbor Freight asks you to stop using it immediately and return it to the store for gift card refund.

There are four Harbor Freight locations in the Tri-State in Evansville, Jasper, Owensboro, and Madisonville.
