Germania Mannerchor Volkfest

916 N. Fulton Ave, Evansville, IN 47710
812-422-1915

Kraut, sausages, bands and beer gardens. You'll find all that and lederhosen, too! The Germania Mannerchor Volksfest is an Evansville tradition that celebrates our German Heritage starting at lunch and ending well into the evening.
Its almost Volksfest time Aug. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 916 North Fulton Ave. in Evansville IN. Open at 11:00 am each day for lunch and closing at Midnight each day. Get your fill of brats, ham hocks, german potato sald, white beans, and kraut! Oh, and my personal favorite: kraut balls! OHH YUM.

Music will be provided by Rhine Valley Brass, Ratskeller Band and The Schnapps Band from Cinn. Ohio. You must be 21 to enter after 2:30 and have two pieces of ID. Saturday is Kids Day starting at 11:30 am.

Three things you probably didn't know about Volksfest:

1. It began in 1934 here in Evansville but took a hiatus from 1941-1962 due to WWII.

2. It's held in a Ratskeller. (According to Wikipedia, a Rathskeller is German for a bar or restaurant located in the basement of a city hall (Rathaus) or nearby)

3. Many of the Evansville Germania Maennerchor hosts wear traditional German apparel including lederhosen.
