Write Letters to Santa and Send Them from Downtown Evansville
The holiday season is in full swing in Downtown Evansville. Holiday décor was installed on November 1 by the DOWNTOWN EVANSVILLE – Economic Improvement District (EID). New décor for 2019 includes a 11’ tall snowflake with more than 3,000 lights, a 10’ tall lighted tree, a wall of light display and Santa’s Mailbox.
Children can write letters to Santa and place them in the mailbox at 3rd & Main to receive a response from Santa and his elves. In order to receive a response, letters must be placed in the box by December 15. Each letter must include the child’s name and return address.
The letters will be taken to Santa Claus, Indiana, where Santa and his Elves will respond to each letter. Santa Claus Museum Director Nell Hedge says, “Last year we responded to 23,000 children from all over the world, including China, Russia, Germany and New Zealand. We’re excited to partner with Downtown Evansville to respond to children’s letters to Santa in time for Christmas.”
“Bringing Santa’s Mailbox to Downtown Evansville was a way for us to ensure that all children in our community have an opportunity to connect with Santa and the magic of the holiday season. We invite everyone to see our holiday décor, shop and dine downtown and for children of all ages to place their letters in the mailbox,” said Josh Armstrong, president, EID.
The EID, in collaboration with downtown shops and restaurants, will host two upcoming events for guests to shop, dine and experience downtown. Small Business Saturday is November 30 and A Downtown Christmas will be held on December 7. Visit DowntownEvansville.com or Downtown Evansville Indiana on social media for details.
