Wesselman Woods Hosting Summer Camp for Grown Ups Beginning June 19th
Relive the summers of your childhood as an adult with Wesselman Woods' first-ever "Grownup Summer Camp!"
I only attended summer camp once as a kid when I spent a week with some friends at Camp Ondessonk. Once I got past the homesickness after day three (I missed my Mommy, OK?!?!), I had a great time hiking, riding horses, swimming, and sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows.
The idea of summer camp takes us back to a simpler time. We didn't have a mortgage or rent to worry about. There was no concern of making sure we had enough money to keep the lights on AND eat. We were just kids doing kid things. Cut off (for the most part) from the rest of civilization as we explored the wilderness. It was glorious, and there are times when you miss it. I know I do.
The beauty of the Wesselman Woods' Grownup Summer Camp is that it offers adults the best of both worlds. With an evening session from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 19th and Wednesday, June 21st, or a midday session from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20th and Thursday, June 21st, it doesn't completely remove you from society for a week, while simultaneously letting you disconnect from the stress of the daily grind by enjoying hikes, outdoor games, and animal encounters.
Registration for both sessions is open now for adults 21-year-old and older through the Wesselman Nature Preserve website, and costs $40 for members, and $50 for non-members. The event will conclude with a bonfire for all participants on Friday, June 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., regardless of which sessions they attended.
