Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Accepting Deputy Applications [LINK]
If you, or someone you know, has a desire to help keep the streets and residents of Vanderburgh County safe, the Sheriff's Office is looking for you.
The Office is currently accepting applications for Sheriff's Deputies through their website. But, applying to become a deputy isn't quite the same as dropping off an application at a fast food restaurant or retail store. There's quite a bit more that goes into it including an evaluation of your physical fitness, a written test, and interviews with Sheriff Dave Wedding and the Merit Board among others.
The physical assessment alone includes a vertical jump, determining the number of sit-ups you can do in a minute, the number of push-ups you can do until your arms give out, a 300 meter run, and a 1.5 mile run (you need to be in shape to chase down all those perps).
For a complete run-down of the application process, the online application, and a description of the benefits package you'll receive if you get hired, visit the Sheriff's Office website.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, July 21st.
