This week Lindsey from the Warrick Humane Society dropped by with Roland - a sweet, adorable puppy but we found out that there were 20 more puppies still back at the shelter.
This morning, my sister-in-law sent me a Facebook post from the Warrick Humane Society that broke my heart.
This poor girl was just surrendered to us. She was the product of a breeder who could obviously care less about her. She was never even given a name. We are calling her Thumbelina. She's around a year old, 4 lb chihuahua. She is very sweet but scared.

This week while you and everyone else are celebrating our nation's independence, remember the pets! Keep them safe and from getting too stressed out. The noises of fireworks will especially rattle the calmest of pets. I reserved a "safe" place for our dogs long ago in the house basement. I have an 8' X 16' kennel built especially for the dogs where they know they are safe.
Corona's mother, Clover came to the WHS a couple of months ago from a Kentucky kill shelter very pregnant. She went into foster care and had her puppies - all of which have been adopted except Corona. WHS thinks Clover and Corona have border collie and husky or Australasian shepherd. The adoption fee for Corona is $200 and $130 for his mother.
It's time again for the Cards 4 Critters Poker Tournament! The monies raised will go to the no-kill animals shelters in our area, Warrick Humane Society and It Takes a Village. Just think about all the cute, warm and furry critters that are taken in by these two animal shelters, even from the other shelters, that have been saved and adopted by loving families. It takes money to keep the shelter

It's always sad news to hear about puppy mills. If you aren't familiar with the term, it's an operation of dogs (usually small breeds) who are used exclusively to breed for puppy sales. Many times, the dogs are kept their entire lives in small confinements and sadly, deplorable conditions...
You can help the Warrick County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter, and have lots of fun at the same time! Cards 4 Critters is a poker tournament fundraiser taking place tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to support It Takes a Village Canine Rescue and Warrick Humane Society!
