Believe it or not!  The U.S. Department of Energy has declared that within the Alaskan ice are pockets of methane hydrate that looks like ice but isn't. The methane hydrate is the main ingredient of natural gas and burns like a candle if its molecules are warmed enough.  Already 1 million cubic feet of methane has been produced.  The United States has plenty of natural gas available for now, and the methane hydrate could be sold and exported, or used for future U.S. energy needs.  Check out the short video below!  Click here to read more about this story.
