I'm ashamed to say that I've lived in the Evansville area for about 15 years and until this week I had never been aboard the LST 325. But I did it and it was awesome! Built in the 1940s right here in Evansville for WWII, the LST 325 is the only operational LST in WWII configuration afloat in US waters.

The LST 325 has a rich history in both WWII and beyond. Now, she rests quietly in retirement here at her home in Evansville. And starting April 1st the LST is following the spring schedule for tours. When we went this week, it was 66 degrees outside and the birthing area was a bit stuffy so it's highly recommended that you take advantage of this cooler weather for tours!

From the website:

The LST-325 calls Evansville, Indiana home and is open for tours with seasonal hours throughout the year. Every year in late summer she sails to visit various other ports. In 2019 her volunteer crew will take her to Chattanooga, TN; Decatur, AL; and Aurora, IN. See a complete schedule below.

We are a FULLY OPERATIONAL ship and all tours in Evansville are guided. Standard tours include the Main Deck, Troop Berthing, Tank Deck, Mess Deck, Galley, Stern of ship (Guns and Anchor), Wheel House, Officer's Country, and the Captain's Cabin. This tour includes up to 6 ladders (sets of stairs).
