Lacrosse Exhibition to Benefit Gilda’s Club March 4th
The sport of lacrosse has been gaining in popularity not only across the country, but right here in the Tri-State with several area high schools fielding teams. On March 4th, you not only have the chance to see some of those teams in action, you'll also be helping Gilda's Club during the Southern Indiana Select Lacrosse's "Stix Against Cancer" exhibition event at North High School's Bundrant Stadium on Highway 41 North.
I'll be perfectly honest, I know very little about lacrosse. I know there's a ball and sticks with small nets on one end the players use to pass said ball to each other, or score on their opponent's goal. I also know players wear helmets and padded gloves for protection, and that's about it. As for the rules of the game, positions on the field, or how plays are drawn up, I'm clueless. If you fall into that same category, Stix Against Cancer will be a great opportunity to learn the game!
The day will feature 13 exhibition matches between both junior varsity and varsity teams from North, Castle, Reitz, Memorial, Central, Mater Dei, Harrison, South Gibson, and Owensboro high schools, as well as lacrosse equipment sales, information on the organization's travel program, concessions, spirit wear sales, and more.
All proceeds from the gate and spirit wear sales will go directly to Gilda's Club.
For more information about both the organization and the exhibition, visit the Southern Indiana Select Lacrosse's official website.

About Gilda's Club:
"Gilda’s Club provides a place where anyone touched by cancer can laugh, cry, confront fears, share triumphs, and learn how to LIVE with cancer. It is a place where people find strength, comfort and wisdom by sharing their experiences; a comfortable place to recognize and release the many emotions that go along with the cancer journey. When cancer happens, it happens to the whole family and its social network; membership is equal for the person with cancer, the family member and friend."
