I’m About to Poop Blue for Your Entertainment

Here's how this delicious and hilarious tradition got 'cooked' up. It dates back to the day that Lacy Dutschke (Executive Director of the United Way of Perry County) walked into Behind the Times Bakery. She asked Morgan Wheatley if she would be interested in partnering for a fundraiser. As it turns out, Morgan had already been toying around with the idea of staging an "old-fashioned pie eating contest."
Well, the rest is history and the lineup for the seventh installment of that event has been revealed. Yep! That's my mug- bottom row, second from the left.

Here's the list of folks competing alongside me this year! Notice that the first name you see is my morning show cohost.
Mary-Katherine Maddox – WBKR Morning Show
Caleb Sherry – Shepherd Insurance
Ike Coyle – Coyle's Lawn & Landscaping
Missy Noble – James Family Beef
Jerry Ammon – Cannelton Legion
Clint Gayer – G4 RC Park
Elizabeth Kehl – Advanced Rehab, Inc
Emily Hilgenhold – Tell City Family Dentistry
Tony Miller – Tony Miller
Kirra Henderson – Behind the Times Bakery
Travis Goffinet – Branchville Correctional Facility
Last year's contest raised over $20,000 for the United Way. The proceeds benefit United Way programs like Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Stuff The Bus. Lacy says, "None of us ever dreamed it would now be the biggest event of the fest still after all these years!"
If you need additional proof of just how popular this contest is, take a look at this crowd photo.

I hope these folks are ready to cheer on a guy who's going to poop blue for a week after this.
The playing field is set. Those blueberry pies are set to be baked. I am preparing to go face down in a pie in public- without a fork, knife, or napkin. To my fellow competitors, all I can say is this. You better bring it!
