Owensboro Teacher Creates Free Guide to Owensboro Burger Week and You Can Download It Here

In 2023, Katy Tierney, a 3rd grade teacher at Estes Elementary School in Owensboro, created a spreadsheet inspired by Owensboro Burger Week. It looked like this!

If you're familiar with Burger Week, it's a celebration of hamburgers here in the city of Owensboro. Dozens of restaurants participate by creating a $7 burger specifically sold during Owensboro Burger Week, which recently expanded to nine days. They're creative and tasty and Burger Week fans across the area develop strategies for eating as many of the specialty burgers as possible over the course of the event. It's a challenge and I speak from experience. In 2022, I ate 26 hamburgers in five days.

Owensboro Burger Week 2024 is set for March 1st through the 9th and this year's event features more restaurants than ever. With roughly 40 burgers on the menu, how can one possibly come up with a game plan to tackle them all? That question was the inspiration behind Katy's spreadsheet last year and why she's expanded that spreadsheet into an elaborate guide this year!

Katy's 2024 Guide to Owensboro Burger Week includes a 'Tips and Tricks for Conquering Burger Week' section, participating restaurant and food truck hours of operation, a geographical guide to Burger Week restaurants so you can see which restaurants are competing in the different sections of the county, photos and descriptions of each restaurant's burger, and a rating guide so you can score each $7 entry on a scale of 1 to 5.

That ratings guide is doubly important this year. For the first time in its history, Owensboro Burger Week 2024 will feature a People's Choice Award sponsored by German American Bank. While a panel of judges will ultimately choose the overall Burger Week Champion, the public will get to vote on their favorite entry as well.
