We've been on the hunt for the most unusual, fun, and quirky roadside attractions across the Hoosier State, and we've found another one to add to your road trip bucket list.

Meet Indiana’s Giant Leg That Tells Time

Tucked away just outside Roselawn, and located about halfway between Chicago, Illinois, and Lafayette, Indiana, you’ll find one of the state’s most unusual landmarks - a towering fiberglass sculpture measuring 18.5 feet tall and 36 feet long.

But of course, this isn't just any run-of-the-mill sculpture in Northern Indiana. This sculpture is actually a giant lady's leg that pulls double duty as a working sundial. Yes, you read that right. A lady's leg. And it actually tells time!

Visiting the Quirky Sun Aura Resort Landmark

Now, before you grab your camera and your car keys, you should know that the sundial is located inside the Sun Aura Resort, a 21-and-over, clothing-optional RV campground that embraces its status as one of Indiana’s most unique destinations. For privacy purposes, and because of the nature of the facility, photography is not allowed on the grounds. However, that has not stopped the sundial from becoming a local legend and a must-see stop for those who appreciate offbeat Americana.

The leg was originally built more than 50 years ago, and the sundial had suffered from years of Indiana weather. According to resort owners Marty and Diane, restoring it was one of their top priorities after purchasing the property in 2015. The restoration included stripping away layers of old paint, repairing cracks in the fiberglass, and giving the entire piece a fresh coat of paint that can withstand decades of exposure to the elements.

Visitors who want to check it out can stop by the resort’s front desk during business hours. According to their website, staff at Sun Aura Resort are happy to allow a quick visit to see this one-of-a-kind piece of roadside art. It is definitely one of those “only in Indiana” landmarks worth the detour.
