Things to Do in the Hoosier State
Indiana is often overlooked as a "fun" destination, but we Hoosiers know that there's plenty of fun to be had around here, you just have to know where to look. I recently went to Tripadvisor and decided to play tourist in my state and see what Tripadvisor recommends for fun, and their number one attraction didn't surprise me one bit!
Tripadvisor's Things to Do in Indiana List
The top 15 attractions that Tripadvisor lists for things to do in Indiana cover everything from museums to wineries, zoos, and even casinos. But what does Tripadvisor rank as the number one thing to do in Indiana? Maybe Holiday World and Splashin' Safari? Nope, HoWo came in 2nd (Holiday World actually had the same rating as the number 1 spot, but it had fewer ratings so kudos to HoWo)!
The Indianapolis Children's Museum
According to Tripadvisor's list of the best things to do in the Hoosier state, the Indianapolis Children's Museum is the highest-rated attraction. Currently on Tripadvisor the Indianapolis Children's Museum sits at a 4.5 out of 5 rating, with nearly 4,000 ratings.
Why is it Ranked So High?
The Indianapolis Children's Museum is the largest children's museum in the world, so it makes sense that it would rate very high on a list of things to do in Indiana. I have many friends and family who live in the Indianapolis area and I've been told this museum is something you block out the whole day for, it's that massive.
According to Tripadvisor the museum even has a 7.5 acre outdoor health and fitness area.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis itself is made up of 500,000 square feet with exhibits and activities that are fun and interesting for the entire family as they explore the physical and natural sciences, history, world cultures and the arts through exciting interactive exhibits on five floors. Families will discover some of the most rare dinosaur fossils in the world and see what it's like to live and work in space.
I will definitely be adding the Indianapolis Children's Museum to my next Indianapolis adventure!
