Grab a Beer and Get Your Damn Hair Cut at New Evansville Salon: Bishops
If you're looking for a place where you can drink a cold beer, get a fresh fade, or try some fun colors - look no further. Bishops is a new salon and barbershop here in Evansville and it has all of the aforementioned and more!
Bishops Cut/Color is a unisex salon that was established in 2001 in Portland, Oregon. It's the perfect home base for art, music, good beer, and a haircut.
Not only is the atmosphere of Bishops super cool and edgy, the stylists are as sweet as can be. Each one of them have personalities that match their fun hairstyles and the environment is extremely welcoming. Once I was in there, I didn't want to leave.
As soon as I got comfortable and looked at all the amazing things going on, I was offered a beer. Wait, what? A beer at a salon? It's like they were speaking directly to my soul. I chose a Stella, because I'm classy.
I talked to Regional Operations Manager, Coco Olson, who told me exactly what Bishops is all about. She said it's a judgement-free place to come and be yourself. Their goal is to make customers comfortable and confident.
Once a small start-up in Oregon, the state increased increased to 19 Bishops locations. Now, it's going nation-wide with 180 franchises across the country. However, this is the first one in Indiana. In my opinion, we needed something new and fun like this.
The color wall is super impressive, too. There's tons of colors to choose from, including your basics, pastels, and bold, vibrant colors. I'm considering some purple at some point. What do you think?
The owner, Todd Southern, said he was looking to open up a business, but wasn't sure where to start. That's when he got in touch with Coco a little over a year ago, and plans developed from there.
Another cool feature coming to Bishops is local artwork. Two spots toward the front of the store are bare at the moment, but Southern said that's on purpose. Eventually, he said, they'll fill those empty spots with artwork from local artists. He said getting involved in the community and supporting local businesses is important to the Bishops team.
Turns out, Bishops is already scoping out other spots in Evansville to open a second location. I'm all for it. Personally, I think it'd be a great addition to Franklin Street...but that could be because Franklin is closer for me.
They offer a variety of services. I'll name some of those for you.
Prices for cuts start at $19 for short (above the earlobe), and $25 for long (below the ear lobe).
Whether it's the beer or the music, there's something about Bishops that makes me want to go back. I want a fun color, I want to drink a cold beer while my fun color sets, and I want to watch to the continuous loop of music videos that play throughout the salon. Bishops is a dope place to get yo hair did.
They're located at 6401 E Lloyd Expressway. Their hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.n. to 7 p.m.
