‘Fantastic Four’ is Looking at ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington, Saoirse Ronan and More
The 'Fantastic Four' reboot may have gone through a tumultuous scripting process, with Simon Kinberg the latest writer brought in on the project, but with a March 2015 release looming, the cast will need to fall into place shortly if they're going to make the date. And now five new names (and two old ones) have been mentioned for the roles of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman and Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.
Variety is reporting that Kit Harington, Miles Teller and Jack O'Connell are up to read for the role of Mr. Fantastic, while Kate Mara, Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan are being tested for Invisible Woman. Currently Michael B. Jordan is the only name mentioned for The Human Torch (which makes it sound like the role is his), while no actors have been mentioned for Ben Grimm/The Thing or Dr. Victor von Doom.
Of these, Jack O'Connell and Margot Robbie are the least well known. The British TV and movie star O'Connell will be appearing in '300: Rise of an Empire' next year -- which would be his biggest role yet -- and he's probably best known for the hit Brit show 'Skins.' Robbie's an Australian who will be seen in the upcoming 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and 'About Time.'
Kate Mara made a splash in 'House of Cards' recently (and, yes, her sister is Rooney Mara), while Saoirse Ronan seems to get offered everything these days. As for the men, Kit Harington has made his name on 'Game of Thrones' and will be starring in next year's 'Pompeii' while Teller was previously rumored for this role, though the director denied that he was in the conversation. Perhaps now he is. 'Fantastic Four' is scheduled to hit theaters March 6, 2015.
