Evansville Police Remind ‘Pokemon Go’ Players of Trespassing Laws [PHOTO]

Pokemon Go fever is sweeping the world including right here in Evansville as hundreds, if not thousands of residents take the streets in an effort to “catch ’em all”. While the riverfront and public parks appear to be popular places for hunters to add to their stable of Pokemon characters, the Evansville Police Department is reminding players not everywhere is fair game for collecting.

The Department released the following graphic on Wednesday to remind players some places are off limits, particularly private property.

Trespassing is a Class A misdemeanor in the state of Indiana and can carry up to a one year jail sentence along with a maximum fine of $5,000. Personally, I can’t imagine a judge throwing the book at someone who was simply trying to nab an elusive Charmander, but that’s not the point the EPD is trying to make. The point they ARE trying to make is to be mindful of where you’re going and where you spot a Pokemon. No matter how badly you want that Psyduck, if it’s sought refuge on private property, leave it be.
