Most of the hype surrounding 'Doctor Who' season 8 centers on its newfound leading man Peter Capaldi in the title role, but it seems the eighth cycle of the long-running sci-fi drama has even more new blood on its hands. Meet 'The History Boys' star Samuel Anderson, who will play a vital recurring role in 'Doctor Who' season 8 when it debuts later on this year!

As tends to be the case with BBC series, there isn't yet much information available on Anderson's part in the new 'Doctor Who' series, though we at least know surface details that Anderson will play Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) also teaches. Showrunner Steven Moffat offered his own explanation, in the typically cryptic manner:

For the fourth time in 'Doctor Who' history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS. In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the First Doctor. These days it's the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor. But how and why? Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi's first series of 'Doctor Who'!

Elsewhere, we've also seen Peter Capaldi's new costume and heard rumblings that Matt Smith could make a special appearance in the as-yet-undated premiere, but what say you? Is the new 'Doctor Who' season shaping up to be the best yet? Relive the regeneration below, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
