6 Injured When Frenzied Leopard Escapes Forest and Terrorizes School
A scary scene unfolded Sunday when a leopard got onto the grounds of a school in India.
The leopard managed to avoid being caught for an astonishing 12 hours before it was finally subdued with a tranquilizer dart.
Six people suffered minor injuries during the creature's escapade, a conservationist, a forestry worker, employees from the school and a cameraman who was rolling for a TV station.
The eight-year-old leopard, which reportedly escaped from a forest, got into the Vibgyor International School, in the city of Bangalore, around 4 a.m. when security guards caught sight of it. Officials were summoned to take the creature off the premises, but the leopard managed to go into hiding for a few hours before someone noticed it again.
As officials tried to contain it, it ran rampant near a swimming pool on campus viciously going after anyone who got in its way.
After the animal was subdued, it was sent to a national park. India is home to an estimated 12,000-14,000 leopards.
