I love Mexican food, particularly the classic burrito. It's a full meal that fits in one hand. Convenient and delicious! And when the mood strikes, any one of my five favorite places will do the trick.

Moe's Southwest Grill - 6401 E Lloyd Expressway

Moe's offers more than just burritos, but it's the Homewrecker that keeps me coming back. A large tortilla stuffed to the gills with your choice of meats, beans, cheese, veggies, guacamole, and sour cream, it's so large that I usually can't finish the side of chips that comes with it.

Pro Tip: Visit on Monday's for "Moe Monday" where any burrito and a drink is only $5.99.

Pro Tip #2: Have them throw on fresh cilantro to maximize the experience.

Chava’s Mexican Grill - 4202 N. First Avenue

The new kid on the block, Chava's (between Papa Murphy's and Papa John's in front of Target), has only been around for roughly a year, and is a place I finally got around to trying a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've been there twice. It's that good. Much like Moe's, your burrito is made with your choice of ingredients, and if you do it right, the final product is about the circumference of a chubby baby leg.

El Patron sits in what used to be Godfather's Pizza in North Park behind CVS. It's a sit-down style restaurant, but anything on the menu is available to go and totally worth the wait.

Menu Suggestion: The Burrito Indiana (steak or chicken burrito filled with refried beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream, and topped with cheese sauce.)

While I don't know this for a fact, I believe El Charro and El Patron are owned by the same family, so the menu items are similar. For example, the "Burrito Indiana" at El Patron features the exact same ingredients as the Burrito Jalisco at El Charro. The difference being that El Charro is on the west side, whereas El Patron is on the north. Depending on where you live, or how far you want to travel may determine which you choose. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Hacienda - North, West, and East Side

Few things in our area are better than Hacienda's Wet Burrito. Simple, yet huge. Stuffed with meat, cheese, and beans, smothered in red sauce, it's often times not one meal, but two. An Evansville classic that has stood the test of time.
