The 4th of July will be here in just a couple of weeks (where does the summer go?), and there are several spectacular fireworks shows set to light up the sky all across the Tri-State, including the annual show on the Newburgh river front, hosted by Historic Newburgh, on Friday, July 5th. This year's show will take place at the Old Lock and Dam Park on French Island Trail, and will also give you the opportunity to get a great spot to not only watch the show, but to help Historic Newburgh continue to provide great events like this for the community to enjoy!

The organization is selling buttons for $5.00 each that will allow you to sit up close and personal inside a special VIP section. The buttons can be purchased now at the following businesses in Newburgh:

  • The Refinery
  • Flutter
  • Town Hall
  • Cleo’s Bakery
  • Honeysuckle Finds
  • R4 Design
  • Both German American branches in Newburgh
  • Historic Newburgh Visitors Center
  • Newburgh Farmers Market every Saturday in June

Chairs will not be provided, so make sure you pack a couple lawn chairs and/or blankets.

Fireworks aren't the only part of the party that night either. The evening will get underway at 5:00 p.m. with Evening at the Park, followed by live music from the Old Dam next to the Little Red Brick House and the Honey Vines in the beer garden at 7:00. Proclamations, a raising of the flag, and a playing of the National Anthem will happen at 8:30, with fireworks scheduled to start at 9:00.

The buttons are not required to enjoy the festivities, they merely give you a better spot to watch the fireworks. For more info on the celebration, visit the Historic Newburgh Facebook page.
