If you own a truck in the state of Indiana, you might want to make sure that it is street legal. Now, if your truck is all stock then you are good. However, if you have considered lifting your truck, do you know the law when it comes to how high it can be lifted?

Sgt. Todd Ringle with the Indiana State Police tweeted this warning yesterday:

You would think this would be common sense, but some still do not realize the dangers of lifting their truck. As a truck driver, I take pride in how my vehicle looks. I have it sitting on a leveling kit, and looking awesome-to my standards.

Now, I understand that a lot of folks in the area love that big jacked up truck, but take a look at the photos above. There's a reason for this law. Imagine if you are driving your jacked up truck and have to slam on the breaks for whatever reason. That car behind you could wind up having your bumper in their windshield. That's something that neither driver wants to have happen.

Be smart when making modifications to your truck. You don't want to end up spending the money on raising your truck PLUS pay for the cost of a ticket...or worse, the cost of repairs to another vehicle.
