The annual Newburgh fireworks display is set for later this evening at the Old Lock and Dam Park along the river, and organizers have made some parking adjustments ahead of the event.

Billed as an "old fashion community Independence Day Celebration, complete with 'summer social' type games, lots of food, and a community concert by the Old Dam Band," the evening begins at 5:00 p.m., and if you have plans to attend, it's good to know where you can (and can't) park.

According to the Historic Newburgh, Inc. Facebook page, the following changes have been made to this year's parking situation:

FIREWORKS PARKING INFORMATION:
(READ THE WHOLE POST BECAUSE PARKING LOCATIONS WITH SHUTTLE SERVICE HAVE CHANGED FOR 2018)

Parking with shuttle service to the riverfront is available from Sharon Elementary School and Adundant Life Community Church across the street from Sharon Elementary School. These are the ONLY two locations with shuttle service to the riverfront.

If you choose to park at Newburgh Elementary School, Zion UCC, People's Bank or street parking in downtown Newburgh enjoy the beautiful walk along the riverfront to get to the event. There will be NO shuttle service from these locations.

Very limited handicapped parking is available at the Old Lock & Dam Park. Please come from the EAST along French Island Trail to get to the Old Lock & Dam Park. Officers will be on site to direct you to handicapped parking if there is any available when you arrive. All WATS shuttle buses are handicapped accessible.
