Honoring Evansville’s Wartime Legacy
Evansville and the women who live here played a crucial role in the wartime effort here in America while many men were overseas. And one of those extraordinary women will be at the Wartime Museum this weekend!
Meet a Real-Life Rosie the Riveter From Evansville
The biggest highlight of the day will undoubtedly be the rare opportunity to meet Lucy Wahnsiedler, a 100-year-old Evansville native and real-life “Rosie” who worked on P-47 aircraft during the war.
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry will be on hand as well to deliver an official proclamation, recognizing the importance of Rosie the Riveter Day and the city’s incredible wartime legacy. There will also be a special guest from the American Rosie the Riveter Association, bringing a national spotlight to Evansville’s contributions..

But the day isn’t just about looking back – it’s also about having fun. The museum will have plenty of family-friendly activities, interactive exhibits, and opportunities to learn while you explore. Guests are even encouraged to dress up in Rosie-inspired outfits too – we want to see those bandanas and denim!
