Meet Bigfoot On Route 66 At The Pink Elephant
Bigfoot Finally Found on Route 66… And He’s Hanging Out in Illinois
I'm not one to believe in myths and have a whole lot of conspiracy theories or things like that but I am an observer. Especially when driving. When I am driving I notice everything along the way. When I got on I-55 and would drive 5 hours back to college there was one place I could not miss every time I drove by it. The Pink Elephant Antique Mall in Livingston, Illinois. I remember seeing a big pink elephant outside the antique store but now there is something else you won't be able to miss. The big hairy mythical creature himself. Bigfoot.
The massive new Bigfoot statue stands an impressive 9 feet tall and weighs more than 300 pounds, which means yes, he’s impossible to miss if you’re making your way down Route 66.
Even better? He’s happily posing for photos with visitors for free, which honestly feels pretty generous for such a legendary celebrity. And taking a photo with Bigfoot just screams Midwest doesn't it?
A huge shoutout goes to Kendall Hart, an incredibly talented artist from Carlinville, who somehow managed to pull off what no one else could getting Bigfoot to stand still long enough to capture him.
We’re still not asking questions.
Right now, the big guy is hanging out near the candy store, where he’s likely catching the scent of fresh fudge… and maybe silently judging everyone’s snack choices.
Now He Needs a Name
Here’s where the fun really starts.
The Pink Elephant Antique Mall is asking visitors and fans to help name their newest Route 66 legend. What are we thinking name wise? They want your funniest, weirdest, most over-the-top Bigfoot name ideas. Maybe name him one of my nicknames that I get called, like shorty, short stack, small fry.
The best part? If your name suggestion gets the most likes, it could become his official name forever.
So if you’ve got something clever, now’s your chance to make Route 66 history.
