Something Big Just Opened in Downtown Owensboro
New Downtown Owensboro Facility Will Help Fund Meals a Community Dream
A new charitable gaming facility is opening its doors, but the bigger story is what organizers hope it can help make possible.
There’s something new opening in downtown Owensboro, and this one comes with a much bigger goal behind it.

Beverly’s Hearty Slice has announced the opening of a new charitable gaming facility at 109 West Fifth Street in Owensboro. The facility is smoke-free and alcohol-free and is designed to help raise money for the organization’s work in the community.
And that work goes well beyond the new location.
Beverly’s Hearty Slice currently provides biweekly meals at five different locations along with special holiday events. Funds raised through the new facility will help support those efforts while also working toward an even bigger dream.

The Goal: A Safe Space for Local Kids
The organization hopes to eventually establish the Beverly’s Hearty Slice Safe Space, a place where kids could go after school for education, mentorship, recreational activities and, of course, something to eat.
There’s also a goal to work alongside local restaurants and farmers to rescue surplus food that could then be used to help families in the community rather than letting that food go to waste.

Organizers say getting the new facility open wasn’t easy and came with plenty of obstacles along the way, which makes finally opening the doors an exciting milestone.
The new charitable gaming facility opens to the public at 11 a.m. at 109 West Fifth Street in downtown Owensboro.
So while people may be stopping by to play a game, the hope is that the money raised there can eventually help Beverly’s Hearty Slice do even more for families and kids around Owensboro.
And I think that’s a pretty cool goal to get behind.
