You Weighed In on the Movies/Shows This Year You’re Most Excited For
Is It Just Me… Or Are Movies Finally Back?
For a while there, it felt like movies kind of disappeared.
It makes sense why. When Covid hit, theaters shut down, productions stopped, and Hollywood pressed pause. That part made sense. But even after things started opening back up, it still felt like something was missing.
Maybe it was just sequel overload. Maybe streaming changed how we watch everything. Or maybe we all got a little spoiled binge-watching shows from the couch.
But lately? It feels like movies are making a comeback.
And judging by the messages rolling in from YOU, I’m definitely not the only one feeling excited about what’s headed to theaters.

MY1053 Listeners Shared What They're Excited About
I asked you what movies they’re counting down to this year, and the responses were all over the place, which makes it even more fun.
A lot of people are ready for the big action and blockbuster releases, while others are excited about long-awaited sequels and nostalgic favorites returning to the big screen.

Some of the movies listeners mentioned include:
- Mortal Kombat II
- Street Fighter
- Toy Story 5
- Mandalorian and Grogu
- Masters of the Universe
- The Breadwinner
- Disclosure Day
- The Lincoln Lawyer

As for shows you have me tempted to start a new "rotting on my couch series":
- Crystal Lake
- The Pitt
- Landman
- Ted Lasso
- Wednesday

The Ones I’m Personally Counting Down To
Great list so far! Now, if we’re talking personal excitement, I already know my top two.
First, The Devil Wears Prada 2.
I don’t even care how long it’s been. I just made my mom watch the first one with me again and now she's even excited to go see the second one. The original is one of those movies that never gets old, and seeing those characters come back? The iconic outfits?! I mean, come on.

And then there’s The Odyssey.
The Odyssey is nostalgic in a way because it was one of those stories I had to read out of a big English book freshman year of Highschool. You don't forget a book like the Odyssey, and I can only imagine what the movie is going to be like, especially considering the Director is Christopher Nolan. Big-scale storytelling, epic adventure, and seeing how this classic gets brought to life on screen has me eagerly curious.

Maybe The Movie Magic Is Back
Maybe nothing will ever fully recreate the feeling of lining up for a huge movie premiere years ago… but it does feel like Hollywood finally has some momentum again.
And if the MY1053 audience is any indication, people are ready to grab the popcorn and head back to the theater.
So now I’ve got to ask…
What movie are YOU most excited to see this year?
