The Fall Festival Parking Struggle is Real

If you’ve ever been to the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, you already know - finding a parking spot can feel like its own carnival game. Sure, it’s not impossible, but let’s be honest, it’s usually the most stressful part of the day. Unless, of course, you go the easy route and pay a few bucks to park in one of the many lots nearby. Honestly, that’s my go-to move every year, and here’s why:

First, those lots are usually just a short walk to Franklin Street. Second, I feel better knowing my car is parked in a spot that’s being somewhat monitored. And the best part - that parking money is helping out a local non-profit organization. It’s one of those win-win situations - convenient for you, and a boost for the community.

This year, though, there’s an even better option - skip parking altogether and hop on a METS bus! Evansville city officials have announced details for this year's lunchtime shuttle service to and from the festival.

Hop on the METS Shuttle for a Hassle-Free Fall Festival Ride

The shuttle will be running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day, making stops about every half hour. You can catch it at the “back 40” parking lot of the Westside C.K. Newsome Community Center, at the Civic Center lot exit on Ninth Street, and by the flagpoles on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

It also makes pickups and drop-offs at the temporary bus stop on the corner of W. Franklin St. and Wabash Ave. on the quarter hour. The first drop-off there is at 11:15 a.m., and the last shuttle of the day heads out at 1:45 p.m.

The standard bus fare applies for all passengers.

The Fall Festival Lunch Shuttle will make a nice little loop around town to get you where you need to go. Here’s how it runs:

It starts with pick-up and drop-off on the west side of the C.K. Newsome Community Center, moving through the “back 40” parking lot and along Locust Street. From there, it heads into the Civic Center parking area, then continues down Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. with a stop near the flagpoles.

Next, the shuttle turns onto Vine, then Second Street, and makes its way onto Fulton Ave. From there, it hops on the Lloyd Expressway, exits at Wabash Ave., and heads to the corner of W. Franklin St. and Wabash Ave. for another pickup/drop-off at the temporary bus stop.

After that, the shuttle travels down W. Franklin, loops back via Fulton, Second, Sycamore, and Elsas Streets, and finishes right back at the C.K. Newsome Community Center and Civic Center.
