Evansville’s Block-by-Block Cleanup Returns September 11

Evansville's Next Block-by-Block Cleanup Is Coming

On Friday, September 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the City of Evansville will roll into the Glenwood/Culver neighborhood for its third Block-by-Block event of 2026. If you haven't caught one of these yet, here's the gist — it's the City showing up in a big way, bringing services, volunteers, and city departments together to give a neighborhood some real, visible love.

The Cleanup Will Mark a Major Fight Blight Milestone

And this event will include the demolition of Evansville’s 120th blighted home as part of Mayor Stephanie Terry's Fight Blight initiative. That means 120 different rundown, unsafe, or abandoned properties have been addressed since the program kicked off.

Block-by-Block Teams Up With Day of Caring

This September date is extra special because it's teaming up with United Way of Southwestern Indiana's Day of Caring — the region's largest coordinated volunteer event, drawing folks from Vanderburgh, Spencer, and Warrick counties to support local nonprofits. It also falls on the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance, adding a layer of reflection and community spirit to the morning.

Evansville Has Removed More Than 20,000 Tons of Trash

Since Block-by-Block launched in 2024, Evansville has hauled away more than 20,000 tons of trash across seven neighborhoods, with real drops in trash and weed violations to show for it.
