Drive Responsibly: Evansville Sobriety Checkpoint Details Revealed
Here's a friendly reminder that a sobriety checkpoint is happening this Thursday, August 29th, from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM. This initiative is being conducted by the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership as part of a statewide effort to keep our roads safe.
Targeting Areas with High Hit-and-Run Rates
The location for this checkpoint has been strategically chosen based on local traffic data. Over the past six months, there's been a spike in hit-and-run crashes in specific areas of Vanderburgh County. This checkpoint aims to deter impaired drivers who might be tempted to flee the scene after an accident. Remember, hit-and-runs not only damage property but can also put innocent lives at risk.
Working Together for Safer Roads
The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership is dedicated to making our roads safer for everyone. This checkpoint is one of many steps they're taking to achieve that goal. Law enforcement officers from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, Evansville Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Indiana State Excise Police will be working together to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1 person in the United States dies in a drunk-driving crash every 52 minutes.

- Plan Ahead: If you know you'll be drinking, make arrangements for a safe ride home beforehand.
Let's all work together to keep our community safe. By planning ahead and making responsible choices, we can ensure a fun and safe night out for everyone.
