Cracker Barrel’s Business Travel Memo Is Stirring Up Some Buzz
Cracker Barrel’s “New” Dining Rule Has People Talking
If you’ve been scrolling social media or watching the news this week, you might have seen Cracker Barrel trending but not because of biscuits or rocking chairs.
I'm not sure why Cracker Barrel has been trending on my for you page, maybe it's my love for their pancakes. But right now, the southern comfort-food chain sparked a lot of online chatter when it surfaced when they released this message. The message encouraged corporate employees who are traveling on business to eat most or all of their meals at Cracker Barrel restaurants whenever practical based on location and schedule. It also included guidelines about alcohol reimbursements, making it clear that employees shouldn’t expect pricey drinks on the company dime unless there’s special approval.
Why Cracker Barrel Brings This Up Now
That may sound like a strict new rule, but Cracker Barrel says it isn’t actually new the guidance was originally introduced back in June 2024 and was recently reiterated, not newly created. The company has been quick to clarify that employees aren’t strictly forbidden from eating elsewhere; the recommendation is intended to help manage business-travel costs more effectively, especially when it comes to alcohol expenses.
Despite that clarification, a lot of people online reacted with surprise and even disbelief some questioned how realistic it is to expect someone to find a Cracker Barrel near every work trip destination, while others joked about corporate travelers being limited to biscuits and hashbrown casserole. Whether you love the idea of eating your way through the chain or think it sounds a bit over the top, it’s definitely sparked conversation.
This moment also comes in the wake of other recent highs and lows for the restaurant, including a controversial attempted rebrand in 2025 that the company ultimately reversed after customer backlash.
Love it or laugh about it, Cracker Barrel’s dining guideline has everyone sharing their two cents and maybe planning their next road trip meal accordingly.
