A New Coffee Stop Is Brewing in Boonville — Say Hello to Coffee by Em

By now, you’ve probably realized I’m a coffee lover and honestly, I kind of have to be since we’re up so early. But for me, coffee is more than just caffeine. It’s a break. A break from water, a break from the day, a break from your usual work scenery… and, of course, it keeps you going. Because of that, I’ve made it my mission to try as many local coffee shops as possible and figure out which one truly deserves the top spot.

So when I was scrolling social media and saw a new coffee shop is opening in Boonville, I knew it needed to be added to the list.

Coffee by Em is now open inside The Arris Venue at 120 W. Locust Street, and it’s already giving off cozy, familiar vibes. The shop opened in early February and is serving coffee Tuesday through Friday from 6 to 11 a.m., which just so happens to be prime coffee-run hours.

If the location sounds familiar, that’s because this space was previously home to Trickey’s Brews and Bevs, a spot many locals loved. I never got the chance to try Tickey's Brews and Bevs and I heard some Boonville locals were upset to see it go. But the good news? Some of those favorite drink recipes are still around. Coffee by Em features specialty coffee drinks using familiar Trickey’s recipes, making it feel like a smooth transition rather than a total reset.

The shop is owned and operated by Emily, who you’ll often find behind the bar herself. That personal touch, paired with the welcoming atmosphere inside The Arris Venue, makes it feel less like a quick stop and more like a moment to pause—something we could all use.

So if you’re like me and treat coffee as a little reset in the middle of a busy morning, it looks like we both have a new coffee shop to add to our bucket list. ☕
