Here's a little story about a certain rite of passage from my childhood. One Christmas Eve night--I believe I was 7--I heard "Santa Claus" say a cuss word in the living room. He was assembling my cool new green bicycle with a banana seat.

A Childhood Reindeer Tale

I'm not exactly sure when kids stop believing in Santa Claus, but for me, it was second grade. It's something I mentioned to my sister at the time, but I never told Dad I heard him that night. Considering his duties in the latter part of this life, I'm happy with that decision.

But you know what? The day I realized it was Mom and Dad putting the gifts under the tree while we slept was also the day I began to believe that reindeer weren't real, either. I mean, I'd seen plenty of deer, but never a reindeer. The only things I knew about reindeer were Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, and Rudolph. So yeah, I thought they were fictional creatures like unicorns or dragons.

Where the Reindeer Roam in Southern Indiana

Obviously, I was wrong and needed a place like Santa's Reindeer Ranch, back in the day, to set me straight. I'm sure Comet and Clara would agree.

While the Ranch--just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Holiday World--undergoes renovations at the farm, we can still all get excited about what they have planned for 2024. It's can't-miss and you certainly DON'T want to miss out.

Big Reindeer Plans for 2024

Cutting to the chase...Reindeer Encounters anyone?

First of all, that's an amazing counter. Love the copper. And, just like you, I will absolutely love the opportunity to get up close and personal with the reindeer at Santa's Reindeer Ranch when those plans come to fruition.

But that's not until 2024. Until then, "dash away, dash away, dash away all" to Santa Claus IN, anyway. I mean, for crying out loud, it's Christmas.
